The Alnwick Garden, Northumberland

Grand Cascade And Serpent Garden

S T Controls supplied, installed and programmed the Control Systems for the Grand Cascade. In total, 127 computer controlled jets fire in sequence during four separate routines, each lasting around 30 minutes.

The Alnwick Garden was opened to the general public officially in October 2002 by its patron HRH The Prince of Wales. Experts predicted that 67,000 people would visit The Garden in its first year but The Garden has a way of provoking interest and intrigue and the actual number of people who visited was 318,000! With over half a million visitors last year The Garden has proved to be real favourite, making The Alnwick Garden the third most visited, paid for, garden in the UK.

National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire

Irigation and water feature

The Arboretum is an evolving, maturing woodland landscape featuring 25,000 trees and a large collection of over 400 memorials. Spanning 150 acres, the site is a living, growing tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country.

ST Controls was proud to contribute to this significant national landmark, delivering the irrigation system for the Memorial Mound to support the long-term health and sustainability of the landscape. In addition, we designed and implemented the control system for the Rill water feature, ensuring reliable performance and precise water management within this sensitive and symbolic environment.

Burghley house, Stamford

Garden of Surprises

The enchanting Garden of Surprises is inspired by the Elizabethan fascination with astrology, astronomy and Classical civilisations. Based on original designs by the 1st Lord Burghley the garden is hidden from the outside, waiting to reveal their surprises to those who enter.

Watch the tranquil water features as fountains bubble and a gentle rill winds its way, disappearing into Neptune’s shell grotto. Peer into the misty depths of the moss house, venture through the mirrored maze and find yourself at the centre of the world using the longitudinal dial.
